About the Project
The Extraordinary Herbarium is an interactive online exhibition produced by the Jardins de Métis/Reford Gardens. This project is designed to offer an immersive experience for children aged 6 to 12, allowing them to explore three iconic Canadian gardens.
Guided by three pioneering women from Canada’s horticultural world, children discover five interactive scenes where play, plant life, and horticultural and botanical knowledge come together. They become familiar with the Butchart Gardens, the Central Experimental Farm, and the Jardins de Métis/Reford Gardens. Along the way, they learn how to create a herbarium, understand the cycle of the seasons, and discover the importance of where a plant is grown.
This project was made possible through the Digital Museums Canada investment program. Digital Museums Canada is administered by the Canadian Museum of History with financial support from the Government of Canada.
